Welcome to my online island. I’m Captain Jon Parmet. Ever since I waved goodbye to corporate America years ago, I have been fortunate enough to be able to successfully follow my passion and work on the water. A South Florida native, I have grown up navigating the waters of the Florida Keys and the Bahamas extensively. Having served in the US Coast Guard, I am a “safety-first” captain and do not believe in taking unnecessary risks at sea. A Florida native born in 1971, I developed a passion for the sea at a very young age. During childhood, I spent countless summers and weekends exploring the waters of the Florida Keys with my father David who lived down there. Following high school, I decided to expand my nautical horizons and joined the US Coast Guard. During my enlistment, I proudly served aboard the 180’ USCGC Sorrell, 210’ USCGC Dauntless and at Base Miami Beach. After years of unsuccessfully trying to find satisfaction working a land-based job, Idecided it was time to return to the sea. I waved goodbye to corporate America and swore I would never wear a tie to work again - so far, so good!
